What is one idea, suggestion, or approach from a group member that improved your paragraph or changed the way you thought about the argument?

Prompt Response: One idea suggested from my group member Lucy was using a personal account about her mom. She explained to us how her mom had gone to a restaurant and waited for a long time for her food. My group members and I thought about how the staff must have been very stressed, which was part of our original claim. Lucy agreed with this but stated that her mom also was upset because her food and drinks came out very late. Not only that but her order was incorrect because the staff was frantically rushing. This made us improve our argument by creating a more unique claim about how waiting in long lines can actually affect your food personally and not just the staff. This makes the argument more effective because it can reach out to the reader directly. Not everyone may care about the mental health of the staff, but surely everyone cares about the state of their own food.

Summary: Today in class we went over a new vocab list and did two lessons on them.

Reflection: I learned how to improve our paragraphs more by approaching new claims. Not only that but I learned several new vocabulary terms and how to use them in context.

Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. What is it, what does it mean, and why has it become part of your everyday vocabulary? Explain when you typically use it and what your choice of this word or phrase might reveal about you.

Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?
