Reflect on your experience in AP Language so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

 Prompt Response: So far, my experience in AP Language has been very educational. Originally I was in a different AP Language class and we were writing aimlessly. I felt very confused and worried that I would not understand the exam before taking it. Now that I am in this new AP Language class, I feel way more prepared. I am starting to understand the exam with the practices we are doing, and I am learning different methods like using rhetorical devices. For me, practicing with previous essay prompts has been going really well. Something that is challenging for me is properly constructed essays based on a rubric. This is because I feel confident with my writing skills but sometimes I get confused writing in a certain way based off of a rubric. One thing I need to improve is thinking of evidence from my observations, experiences, and readings and learning how to present them properly.

Summary: Today in class we worked on responding to an essay prompt about if a "good kill" is ever a thing.

Reflection: I learned how to use the app writable, and also how to construct a solid paragraph arguing for a particular stance. It was my first time using my own observations and experiences as evidence instead of citing a source.

 Prompt Response: One phrase I use frequently is, "that is a nice sweetie." This is a phrase I use when I want to reply to someone's statement that is absurd or unusual. It has become a part of my everyday speech because I like how it is a nice way to respond to things that are funny or odd. Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?

 Prompt Response: One time I made a claim supported by evidence was when I was finding out if I was being cheated on. Of course, it was a large claim to make- and potentially hurtful if proven incorrect- so I had to work diligently to find evidence and explain it thoroughly. To explain the situation, I was dating a boy and had an intuition that I was not the only girl. So, I talked to multiple of our mutual friends to get verbal accounts. Not only this but I thought of all of the times where there had been suspicious behavior I could use as evidence once explained. An example of this is when he showed me his phone and there was a girl's name which matched the name from a story I was told by a friend. Once I properly gathered solid evidence, I presented my claim to a group of friends. Write about a fear you have overcome.

 Prompt Response: One fear that I overcame was roller coasters. I have extreme anxiety about many things, which causes me to overthink about outcomes of different normal events. I see the danger and negativity in small things that not everyone notices. That is why for as long as I could remember, I refused to go on roller coasters. I would miss out on trips to Six Flags with my friends, and sit out on rides at fairs. But eventually, my best friend helped me work up the courage to go on a small roller coaster. At first, I was terrified. But by the end of the ride, I felt exhilarated. Every since then, I have been obsessed with roller coasters. I love the rush, the drops, the loops, and everything in between.  Summary: Today in class we went over corrections in our argumentative paragraph. Reflection: I learned that I need to specify my evidence in greater detail or it isn't effective. I also learned that I need to explain my evidence better and not make assumptions.
